2022 Topps Chrome MLS – Hobby Box

This box came out on 2 November 2022 and covers that year's MLS season. The hobby format holds 18 packs of four cards, 72 cards in total, and the configuration states one autograph per box. Signed cards are drawn from the Chrome autograph set.

The base set is 200 cards. The insert sets are 1959 Topps Football, Field Tested, Big City Strikers and Future Stars, listed at 1 in 6, 1 in 4, 1 in 9 and 1 in 108 packs respectively. Field Tested is therefore the one you see most often and Future Stars the one that rarely turns up. The odds are averages across the whole print run and say nothing about what is in this particular box.

The retail boxes from the same year carry Pink X-Fractor, described as retail-exclusive, while the autographs are on the hobby side. In size, the box has the same 18 packs as the 2021 edition; from 2024 Topps moved to 20 packs in the hobby format. That makes 2021 and 2022 the two comparable years if you want to count cards for the money between seasons.

The box works well for anyone filling out an MLS collection from earlier seasons, or anyone who wants cards of players who have since changed clubs. The edition is English and American. We cannot pick out teams or players from a sealed box.
