Hockey cards.NHL cards and SHL trading cards

Who makes the NHL cards?

The first hockey cards came with cigarette packs from Imperial Tobacco in Canada between 1910 and 1913. Between 2010 and 2014 Panini also made NHL cards, and since the 2014/15 season Upper Deck has held the licence from the NHL and the NHLPA players' association exclusively. In 2021 Upper Deck got a long extension of its exclusive rights.

The season's releases

Upper Deck's Series 1 comes out in the autumn and Series 2 in the winter. Young Guns has its own section in the hockey guide, and hobby boxes and blaster boxes are compared in the guide on hobby or retail.

Swedish hockey cards

Ice hockey first appeared on Swedish stickers in Marabou's Sportserie 1932/33, a 150-card series with athletes from several sports. What came next, from the Alfa cards and Elitset to the official SHL cards, is covered in the guide to Swedish hockey cards.
