Pockets or ring binder
Portfolios, PRO-Binders and zip card binders come with fixed pockets included. The pages are fixed, and the number of pages cannot be changed. An album is a ring binder that comes without pages: You buy the pages separately, such as the nine-pocket binder pages, either a whole box or one page at a time.
The number in the name is the number of cards per page: 4-pocket is two by two, 9-pocket is three by three and 12-pocket is three by four. The pockets are for standard-size cards, and Ultra Pro's 4-pocket portfolios for Pokémon also have room for four jumbo cards. The text for each card binder states how many cards it holds and whether the cards should be in card sleeves. Read more in the guide to card binders.
Card binder for football cards
For Match Attax and Adrenalyn XL, the series' own card binder is only included in the starter pack, which can be found among the football cards. Which card sizes fit in the same pockets, football cards and Pokémon cards included, is covered in the sleeve guide.
Card binder for Pokémon cards
Ultra Pro publishes portfolios with artwork from individual Pokémon sets. How the card binders differ in construction and material is explained in the guide to card binders and binder pages. Loose binder pages for the ring binder, toploaders and magnetic holders are listed in their own categories.
Card binders from the big brands
The nine-pocket plastic pages reached collectors through Pacific Trading Cards, which Mike Cramer founded in 1980 and which was the first to sell plastic pages for cards in binders. Vault X, a British brand that four friends started in 2017 in a friend's garage, makes zip card binders. Which card binder ranges Ultra Pro, Dragon Shield and Ultimate Guard offer is shown in the brand guide.
